Learning from the Challenges of Our Times: Global Security, Terrorism and 9/11 in the Classroom

9/11 Teaching Tools

The 4 Action Initiative has developed a new curriculum for grades K-12, Learning from the Challenges of Our Times: Global Security, Terrorism and 9/11 in the Classroom. The goal of this new curriculum is to provide teachers and community members with the tools they need to help students understand the challenges of today’s world. Lesson topics extend beyond September 11, 2001. Students learn about the complexities of today’s world; threats to global safety and security and how they can contribute positively to their schools and communities. The 58 lessons draw on new and existing curricula covering multiple subject areas and are organized around seven thematic units from human behavior to the history of terrorism to recovery and building a better future. The curriculum was released on July 14, 2011 at Liberty Science Center in New Jersey and is available to educators and schools everywhere; there is no charge for the pdf. Please email us at 4actioninitiative@gmail.com if you would like further information about how to bring these lessons to your school or if you are interested in educator training sessions.
