DESIGNING A 9/11 MEMORIAL (GRADES 5-12)

9/11 Lesson Plans

In this lesson excerpted from The September 11th Education Program, students will design a memorial of remembrance for the victims of the 9/11 attacks after learning about other monuments and the emotional effects associated with each. Students will understand the complexities of building memorials by developing their own 9-11 memorial proposal outlining the rational for their memorial while evaluating its power and effectiveness. In addition, students will learn more about the plans to build a 9/11 memorial at the World Trade Center site and the issues that have arisen through that process.
